INTERWOVEN celebrates, through music and performance, the rich heritage of North Kirklees’ shoddy and mungo textile industry and its connections to present day environmental issues in the modern textile industry.
There will be a performance, at Dewsbury Minster, of a new piece of music written especially for the project on Friday 6 May. And there will also be a pop up exhibition with talks and workshops running from Sat 30th April to Sun 15 May.
We’d love it if you could help us with any of the following:
- Marketing and publicity, including flyer and poster distribution in North Kirklees and Huddersfield
- Looking after the pop up exhibition space on Foundry Street in Dewsbury (open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am – 3pm) by welcoming visitors and sharing information about the project. You won’t be asked to do this on your own.
- Supporting workshops and talks in the pop up space on Foundry Street in Dewsbury.
- Stewarding and supporting audiences at the performance evening on Friday 6 May
All roles will be supported by the project team, and you won’t be asked to do anything you don’t feel comfortable with. We can also refund travel and food expenses incurred whilst volunteering up to £5/day.
If you’re interested in any of these opportunities, please get in touch with Alison McIntyre as soon as possible. We’d love to hear from you!
