INTERWOVEN Exhibition

INTERWOVEN celebrates the rich heritage of North Kirklees’ shoddy and mungo textile industry and its connections to present day environmental issues in the modern textile industry.

The INTERWOVEN exhibition accompanies the performance of a new piece of music inspired by stories of the North Kirklees textile industry It explores the history of the local shoddy and mungo industry, from it’s beginnings to the present day, and makes connections between the recycling processes which inspired its creation and the environmental concerns of the present day textile industry.

The exhibition space will be open from 11am to 3pm Wednesday to Saturday, unless a workshop or talk is taking place.

We will also be holding talks and workshops in the exhibition space. These will all be free, but booking is necessary.

Sun 8th May 2-4pm: 3D Textile Collage Workshop

Sat 14th May 2-3pm: Weaving Words Poetry Workshop

Sun 15th 12-2pm: Gini’s Dorset Buttons Workshop
