Are you interested in textile heritage, do you want to find out more about why textiles are so important in the development of Kirklees? Do you wonder what has happened with textile innovation past and present.

WOVEN needs you!

We are looking for a team of volunteers to research Kirklees textile heritage, so that together we can create the ultimate textile timeline!

What will it involve?

  • You will get to work as a team of volunteers ensuring that we cover as much history as possible. There will be monthly meet ups to make sure there is no cross over and to get social (online until further notice)
  • You will be asked to conduct online research and fact checking
  • You will have access to local archives (social distancing regulations depending) and staff who can help point you in the right direction
  • You may be asked to help conduct interviews with local archive, museum staff and industry professionals

The timeline research will commence with a Zoom meeting (date TBC) hosted by the WOVEN curators and Robert Clegg from the West Yorkshire Archive Service.

If you are interested, please sign up as a volunteer and we’ll be in touch with more information soon.
