The Great Get Together is inspired by Jo Cox, who was killed on the 16th of June 2016. In her first speech in Parliament, Jo said, ”We have more in common than that which divides us”. Through the Great Get Together, we ask people across the country to embrace Jo’s words, bring people together and celebrate community.
This year, which marks the 5th anniversary of Jo Cox’s murder, will also be the 5th time the Great Get Together will bring people together across the UK to celebrate Jo Cox’s #MoreInCommon message.
The Jo Cox Foundation team alongside More In Common, Batley and Spen are hosting ‘Stitch Together’. We invite you to join us, explore ways to connect with others and create a banner, embroidering the words ‘More In Common’.
You do not need any prior crafting experience to take part. Kits containing all materials and instructions will be sent out prior to the event. You will be guided in the event by a More In Common Batley & Spen volunteer.
We would like to invite you to our free virtual Get Together to meet new people in a relaxed and informal setting. The sessions will take place on Saturday 19th June at 10:30am on Zoom so participants will need to be able to access the online session and have a level of dexterity to take part in the craft activity.
You can sign up here. There are a limited number of kits available. Please register by Wednesday 9th June.
