Sharing Memories Group is an arts organisation that brings together older people to share their memories of the past with each other and the wider community, using these shared memories as a basis for creating art.
They are looking for new members and volunteers to be part of their fantastic new community project celebrating the rich textile traditions of the Holme Valley and Huddersfield. You’ll have the chance to learn and practice a variety of textile crafts, make new friends, and connect with the community whilst getting creative.
The project will culminate in WooLovers, a week long exhibition at the Tolson Museum as part of WOVEN 2025.
Sharing Memories Group meets every Thursday afternoon from 1–3pm at The Phoenix Centre, Holmfirth, and sometimes at other locations in the community. Sessions cost just £5, and your first session is FREE so you can see if it’s the right fit for you. They can also help with taxis.
Interested in joining or finding out more? They’d love to welcome you! Let them know in advance so they can greet you and have materials ready. You can contact them on 07850 622 918.
Members absolutely love this project—not only for the crafting but also for the chance to connect with different groups and generations. They would love you to be part of it too.
