Calling all textile makers – don’t miss the Sangam Festival and WOVEN Swap Shop Sew!

Do you run a business, charity or project around textiles, fashion & sustainability and would like to sell your work or hobby at our Swap Shop Sew marketplace that is taking place as part of the Sangam Festival in partnership with WOVEN on Sunday 1st August (Huddersfield) and Sunday 15th August (Thornhill Lees Community Centre, Dewsbury).

We are looking for stallholders with a focus on handmade, local or fairtrade textile products or Artworks based in Kirklees. Whether you own a business making textile products or are part of a craft group selling items to raise money for charity, we want to hear from you!

Please contact Julia at volunteersangamfest@gmail.com for more information

Sangam Festival is a community festival celebrating South Asian arts, culture and heritage. Our aim is to bring people together to enjoy heritage and multi-arts events in a spirit of celebration, positivity and harmony.

Sangam Festival takes place from 18 July – 17 August, with events and activities held online and in venues and outdoor locations across Kirklees. Visit our What’s On page for the full programme of events.

Swap Shop Sew is a sustainable fashion event that engages communities with circular fashion and brings together three areas of action:

– SWAP: A clothing exchange
– SHOP: A local textiles-based marketplace
– SEW: A garment repair and/or textiles upcycling workshop

A celebration of textiles and fashion, Swap Shop Sew provides an opportunity for you to engage with pre-loved clothing in a fun and social environment – and to keep second-hand clothing in active use to reduce textile waste.

You can also learn practical skills for repair, customisation and upcycling of clothing and/or accessories, and browse local textile stalls.
