Sharing Memories Group is an arts and wellbeing group for adults based in the Holme Valley, that work on intergenerational community arts projects. Their latest project called “WooLovers” delves into the textile heritage of the Holme Valley and Huddersfield.
The exhibition showcases 6 months of creative heritage and modern-day craft work by the Sharing Memories Group, children from three Kirklees Primary Schools, and adults from The Bridgewood Trust and Enfield Down.
It centres around our own “WooLover” character, Sir John Ramsden, who was instrumental in the building of The Cloth Hall in Huddersfield. How fitting that the exhibition should feature in the Tolson Museum in Ravensknowle Park, where the only remaining parts of the Cloth Hall can still be seen!
They are looking for new members and volunteers to be part of this fantastic project the group meets every Thursday afternoon from 1–3pm at venues across the Holme Valley. You’ll have the chance to learn and practice a variety of textile crafts, make new friends, and connect with the community whilst getting creative. Find out more information on how to join here.
This event is part of the WOVEN community programme.
Free to attend. No booking required.
