Even when there’s no big festival happening, there’s often lots of textile events happening across Kirklees.
Local people and groups will make and donate a variety of hand-made woolly hats (knitted, crocheted, woven, loomed, upcycled from woollen jumpers), which will be installed on railings and bollards around the village.
Special ones will be exhibited in windows of shops and businesses to make a trail to follow.
In July, the yarn bomb hats will be laundered and donated to homeless and refugee charities, the specially crafted hats will be auctioned off to raise money for Kirklees Shared Goods Charity. In this way all contributions will have another sustainable purpose.
