Discover the WOVEN 2025 Festival Programme and upcoming events
In partnership with 6 Million + and Shared Goods, and supported by Lawrence Batley Theatre and Balbir Singh Dance Company, local refugees and friends will attend creative arts sessions from April to June with 6 million+ artists, to share stories with a partner, based on the sharing and wearing of an item of clothing that is of significance to them.
Partners will exchange and add to garments, taking on aspects of one another’s story, creating textile pieces to add to the outfit, with the help of a textile artist. These might be worn or animated as simple puppets.
Words will be written the owner of the clothing and their partner, supported by a writer. A musician will help participants work up simple songs and pieces of music. Volunteers and refugee apprentices will support this process.
This will cumulate in a grand finale event at the The Attic, Lawrence Batley Theatre including storytelling performances, music, food, and of course, clothes.
Free to attend but booking is essential.
Booking details will be published on 6 million + Facebook page in May 2025.
