STRUT Exhibition: Celebrating Creativity in Dewsbury

THIS EVENT WILL BE AN ACTIVE SPACE FOR MAKING. Full of fun workshops for skill-making, music and activities for all the family – a place to find out more about the groups that are doing great things in Dewsbury and an opportunity to talk to the WOVEN team about the future of WOVEN in Dewsbury.

Free Activities

  • Make a ‘jam jar greenhouse’ to grow your own natural dye plant with artist Karen Stansfield.
  • Create a concertina sketchbook with artist Harriet Lawson.
  • Sound Walks with Duncan Chapman from Manasamitra [Sounds of Dewsbury tours: 11am – the Looking Up walk; 12.30pm – The Artworks walk; 2.00pm – the Heritage walk] 
  • Have your portrait taken at Casey Orr’s Pop Up Photo Studio.
  • Free face painting with Artifaces.

Accessibility Information
Everyone is welcome to Dewsbury Town Hall, we will do whatever we can to ensure you have an enjoyable visit. Staff are available to help, so please ask us if you need any assistance. Parking and dropping off There are a limited number of parking spaces for blue badge holders next to the town hall on Wakefield Road. Lift access The lift accesses the concert hall and all meeting rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor. Please note that there are steps to all rows of seating on the balcony. Please be aware that the lift will not be available in the event of an evacuation. Wheelchair users The town hall is accessible to wheelchair users and dedicated seating is available in the rear stalls. An induction loop and dedicated toilet facilities for those with disabilities are also available within Dewsbury Town Hall. We also welcome guide dogs, please ask if you need help with your seat.

Nearest car park Old Wakefield Road car park Old Wakefield Road, Dewsbury, WF12 8DG This is only 20 metres away from the town hall. The small car park offers 23 spaces. Other car parks There are on street parking bays situated at the rear and side of the town hall. A larger car park is available behind Dewsbury Sports Centre and is adjacent to Mecca Bingo. This car park is only 5 minutes walk to the town hall. There is also a wide selection of other car parks located near to Dewsbury Town Hall.
