Find out more about the Calderdale Calico Dress project and how you can get involved.

This inspiring initiative invites communities to help adorn a specially created calico dress with embroidered patches that tell personal stories. Each patch reflects an individual’s cultural identity, heritage, or creative journey.

It’s an opportunity for people of all backgrounds and skill levels to come together and share their stories, contributing to a series of dresses, one for each district across West Yorkshire.

The Calderdale project is supported by Everybody Arts and Bankfield Museum.

Accessibility Information: The art school with open studio spaces and gallery spaces are both wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately the studio spaces are not wheelchair accessible at this time.
Transport Information: Train: 10 minutes walk from Halifax Railway Station. Bus: 20 minute walk from Halifax Bus Station with regular services from across West Yorkshire. The closest bus stops are on ‘Shaw Hill Simmonds Lane’ and ‘Shaw Hill Gaukroger‘. Car: there is a free car park towards the right hand side of Shaw Lane. Outside the entrance there is disabled and visitor parking plus space for loading / unloading.
