Join us for WOVEN in Kirklees — a month-long celebration of textiles this June! This year, we’re thrilled to feature the breathtaking Red Dress by artist Kirstie Macleod, a stunning collaborative piece embroidered by 380 artisans from 51 countries.
To kick off the festival, we’re hosting a WORLD STITCH DAY on June 1st at The Barn, Oakwell Hall, Birstall — and we want YOU to be part of it!
We’re inviting community groups, stitchers, and anyone passionate about textiles to showcase their skills, share their heritage, and connect with others. This is a unique opportunity to celebrate the diverse stories woven through stitch and textiles.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
✨ Have heritage textiles or garments you’d like to share.
✨ Use stitching techniques passed down through your family.
✨ Work with community groups with stitch skills worth celebrating.
What we’re offering:
🌟 A beautiful space to share your skills, stories, and textiles.
🌟 A dedicated stall area for you or your group to showcase your work.
🌟 Opportunities to sell stitch-related items at select stalls.
🌟 A chance to hear Kirstie Macleod discuss the Red Dress and get your book signed.
🌟 Warm hospitality and a vibrant atmosphere to connect with fellow stitch enthusiasts.
