Botanical: a Contemporary Approach to Natural Dyeing

Please come and join us as we celebrate the Growing Colour Together project and the communities of the Kirkburton Parish.

With a contemporary approach to natural dyed textiles, you can observe the large-scale installation Modified made by artists Seiko Kinoshita & Nicola Perren, engage with the design collection with contributions from local makers, listen to music and go on a walk through the grounds to the newly created church community garden.

This is a creative response to a long-term call to turn areas of Kirklees into Natural Colour Gardens. Over the previous months, workshops have worked with members of the Kirkburton community to learn about such an approach to gardening, how to dye textiles with natural materials and how we might utilise mending of textiles to develop more sustainable practices when it comes to our wardrobes and soft furnishings.
