DESCRIPTION:Have you enjoyed taking part in the WOVEN 2023 Growing Colour Together project? If so we would love to hear from you. Join us in Kirkburton for an evaluation and debrief session with the WOVEN team and community. We will use the time to check in with the community\, find out how things have gone on the project and gather important feedback which will help us moving forward. \nWe will also chat about legacy and what the Growing Colour Together project has left the community and how you might take this forward. We will be joined by local natural dye artist Kayleigh Davis for an exciting growing colour together inspired workshop as well. \nRefreshments available throughout the session. \nBOOK YOUR PLACE \nAbout Growing Colour Together: Growing Colour Together is more than a project\, it’s a MOVEMENT! And our ambition is to create a district-wide\, natural-dye\, colour garden! We want to give everyone the opportunity to ‘have a grow\,’ use what’s grown to make natural dyes\, and learn about the environmental implications of chemical dyes and what we buy. Growing Colour Together is an evolving project and we want people to join in with the areas that interest you to grow\, make\, create and debate!

SUMMARY:Botanical: a Contemporary Approach to Natural Dyeing
DESCRIPTION:Please come and join us as we celebrate the Growing Colour Together project and the communities of the Kirkburton Parish. \nWith a contemporary approach to natural dyed textiles\, you can observe the large-scale installation Modified made by artists Seiko Kinoshita & Nicola Perren\, engage with the design collection with contributions from local makers\, listen to music and go on a walk through the grounds to the newly created church community garden. \nThis is a creative response to a long-term call to turn areas of Kirklees into Natural Colour Gardens. Over the previous months\, workshops have worked with members of the Kirkburton community to learn about such an approach to gardening\, how to dye textiles with natural materials and how we might utilise mending of textiles to develop more sustainable practices when it comes to our wardrobes and soft furnishings. \nBOOK YOUR PLACE

SUMMARY:Hapa Zome Workshop and Green Prescribing
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Charlie Hill for a textile workshop on Hapa Zome and Green Prescribing as part of the Growing Colour Together Project. \nHapa Zome is an ancient Japanese art form\, based on leaf printing. This practical session will include a short grounding/ breathing exercise\, mindful walk around the green space\, collecting materials for the activity. We will use natural materials to create textile prints and painting samples using the Hapa Zome technique. We will identify leaves and materials we are working with and handle them using our sense of sight\, smell and touch. The session will also cover a practical themes and content around green social prescribing methods\, connecting to nature and supporting our wellbeing through creative textile processes and our natural environment. \nThis session is suitable for adults with a particular focus on inviting women and girls in the community. \nBook Your Place
