Something exciting is happening at WOVEN and we need you!
Last June, people all over Kirklees and Yorkshire celebrated Worldwide Knit in Public Day with THE BIG KNIT. It was an opportunity for us all to share skills and get creative and we all worked together to yarn bomb the streets with colour.
For WOVEN in June 2021 we are going to be yarn bombing something really impressive – Huddersfield Train Station – specifically the six grand pillars at the front of the station building. We will also be exploring opportunities to yarn bomb other train stations across Kirklees to create a trail of spectacular woollen rainbow coloured installations.
With so much to cover we’re going to need a knitting and crocheting army!
Whether you are an experienced wool crafter, a complete beginner or somewhere in between, you can get involved by making individual pieces for the giant yarn bomb at home. We’re not looking for complete rainbows from anyone, but individual coloured pieces that will combine to make the much larger installation.
Here’s what you can do if you’d like to take part, as an activity group, school or individual of any age:
Rainbows represent positivity and joy, and we want the BIG RAINBOW KNIT to unite our communities at WOVEN in June 2021 to create series of positive and joyful installations that everyone can feel proud of.
This information will be shared with HATCH (WOVEN curators). It will only be used to get in touch with you about the Big Rainbow Knit and will not be passed to any other parties.
