DESCRIPTION:Come and join Andrew Warburton in his studio in Mirfield for a tour of an industrial workshop and the chance to have a go at creating a little piece of hand tufting magic. This is your unique opportunity to learn the Hand Tufting technique using a tufting gun\, and to contribute to a collective wall hanging. \nThe open studio and demo will be run from Area Rugs and Carpets in Mirfield and you will be guided through tufting lines into the canvas using a hand tufting gun. Your work will be incorporated onto the stretched canvas of the sample tufting frame\, resulting in a one-off wall hanging created collectively with your fellow tufting participants who will all have a turn at tufting into the canvas throughout the day. \nDrop in any time between 10am and 4pm to have a go with the tufting gun. \nPlenty of FREE parking. Elnaz has taught embroidery throughout her community\, within primary\, secondary and higher education as well as community groups and organisations. \nIn 2020 Elnaz was commended for the teaching excellence award in embroidery via the Embroiderers Guild and became an Embroiderers Guild Scholar after the successful launch of her virtual embroidery school ‘Embroider Your Future’. \nHer practice explores ways of transforming traditional embroidery techniques through her choice of unusual materials; she is inspired by industrial\, upcycled materials and the ways in which she can embellish\, connect or transform these items through stitch to develop a surface or form. Her unique embroidery style has allowed her to work across fashion\, jewellery and installation contexts since graduating from Manchester School of Art in 2014.
