SUMMARY:Woad: a year of colour
DESCRIPTION:How many times have you heard the word ‘Woad’? Probably not very often at all\, but woad has been woven through history from pre-history to the present day; its influence has permeated society and influenced culture. Although known traditionally for its blue colour\, woad provides a vibrant spectrum of colours that can be used for dyeing fabrics\, printing and even painting! \nJoin us over the next twelve months on a journey into understanding this amazing plant. We will investigate and experiment over the year to explore the wide range of uses of woad including dyeing fabrics and clothing\, different styles of printing and also using it to paint onto a variety of objects. Participants can join us on just one\, several or even all of our workshops to find out what a diverse and interesting plant woad really is. \nBOOK YOUR PLACE

SUMMARY:Woad: a year of colour
DESCRIPTION:How many times have you heard the word ‘Woad’? Although known traditionally for its blue colour\, woad provides a vibrant spectrum of colours that can be used for dyeing fabrics\, printing and even painting! \nJoin us over the next twelve months on a journey into understanding this amazing plant. We will investigate and experiment over the year to explore the wide range of uses of woad including dyeing fabrics and clothing\, different styles of printing and also using it to paint onto a variety of objects. Participants can join us on just one\, several or even all of our workshops to find out what a diverse and interesting plant woad really is. \nBOOK YOUR PLACE

SUMMARY:ONLINE: AI – Terrifying Tech or Conduit to Creativity at Huddersfield Literature Festival
DESCRIPTION:Does AI pose a grave danger to creative people and projects or is it a useful tool to be harnessed?  \nWhile some will champion AI for its innovative applications in multiple fields of creativity\, others fear that it will negatively impact the income and careers of those working in creative spheres.   \nThere’s no doubt that some artists are finding new ways to push the boundaries of creativity through AI technology. But where does this leave more traditional artisans – and how significant are environmental concerns around the use of AI?  \nWOVEN’s Nat Walton chairs AI – Terrifying Tech or Conduit to Creativity online discussion at this year’s Huddersfield Literature Festival panellists including Fiona Goh\, from British Arts Festivals Association (BAFA). Dr Nik Taylor and Dr Rupert Till from University of Huddersfield. \nFind out more and BOOK TICKETS here \nNote: this event will take place online as a Zoom webinar.
