Woollen Woods and Yarn Bomb Trail – Denby Dale
June 8 - June 16
Every year, Denby Dale Craft Group decorate East Hill Woods (next to the footpath) just down from the station and invite people to walk through the woods. This year, local Brownie groups will be helping decorate the woods.
This year they will also be yarn bombing the High Street as part of The Big Knit. This will be bunting made by several villagers from fabric or yarn. They will also be doing a wrapping in the High Street and displaying bunting on Denby Dale Station platform. All using yarn supplied by Hinchliffe’s mill. All displays will be up for the entire week of the festival.
Denby Dale Craft Group are a small group practising various textile crafts who meet up weekly in Denby Dale. They share their experience and skills in a range of crafts including knitting, crochet, felting, tapestry, quilting, card making and many others. They welcome new people at whatever skill level and opportunities to explore new crafts and ideas.
As you make your way through Denby Dale on the trail from the station, stop off at the Unravel shop to see the yarn bombed railings outside and take in the history of sewing in the shop window.
