Uphill & Down Vale – Walk 1: Slaithwaite
June 13 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
This guided, creative ‘wandering’ will reveal the unsung hidden heroes of the textile world and engage your interest in the textile heritage and hidden potential of the rural and industrial landscape of the Colne Valley.
Sound and motion of walking and weaving, steps, clog worn cobbles, mill workers footpaths, monolithic mills and weavers’ cottages will form the inspiration for our journey around Slaithwaite. Mini sketches, photography, and rubbings are all ways in which we will develop ideas for your own woven piece.
Meet in Slaithwaite station carpark (Manchester direction). The walk is 1-2 miles and suitable for families. Please dress appropriately!
Tickets are £3 adults and £1.50 children: BOOK HERE
The walk will go through marked footpaths and will be 1 – 2 miles. Parts of the walk involve terrain that would be challenging for people using wheelchairs and buggies. The walk will be at a slow pace and involve plenty of stops to be creative. (NB more accessibility information will be provided before the event)
