June 18, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Flagstone path leading off into the moorland

Moors, mills, peat, clogs, grit, and water – explore the ingredients that built the textile excellence of Kirklees past and present in this hands-on guided walk. We’ll focus on your creativity and how you can respond to the environment with your own textile piece.

This guided, creative ‘wandering’ will reveal the unsung hidden heroes of the textile world and engage your interest in the textile heritage and hidden potential of the rural and industrial landscape of the Colne Valley.
The visible and the invisible links to between the peatland moors and the prosperity of the textile mills will be the focus of this moorland walk, taking in parts of the Pennine Way above Marsden.  You’ll create your own textile piece working in-situ using stitch, making your own response to the inspiration you find.
