Guided Tours & Walks at Skelmanthorpe Textile Heritage Centre
June 11 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
One event on June 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm
Skelmanthorpe Textile Heritage Centre is situated at number 6 Queen Street, Skelmanthorpe. It is a small privately owned museum in a one up, one down former weaver’s cottage. The downstairs family living quarters have been maintained and furnished as a weaver’s family home, as it would have been in 1900. Upstairs you’ll find an authentic handloom in full working condition along with fascinating displays of artefacts linked to the rich textile heritage in the area.
On Tuesday 11 June and Thursday 13 June, take a short guided walk from Skelmanthorpe Textile Heritage Centre. Please enquire on the day.
This little known gem will be open for guided tours throughout the WOVEN festival as part of Skelmanthorpe Textiles Festival.
Free, no need to book.
Skelmanthorpe Textile Heritage Centre will be open each day Monday-Friday from 2-4pm, with the loom working on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Also people can take a microscopic look at fibre and textiles at ‘Think Forensic’ Lodge Street, Skelmanthorpe.
