Even when there’s no big festival happening, there’s often lots of textile events happening across Kirklees.
Explore a range of colours using vegetable and plant dyes such as turmeric, madder, onion skins and logwood on this one day natural dyeing workshop.
During the session, you will learn about using dyes to dye cottons, silk & wool and will create your own technical colour chart of small fabric samples (swatches) using the different dyes.
Tutor Kirstie Williams is a local textile artist and printmaker who works with various print techniques such as screen printing, cyanotypes, linocut and textile dyeing and printing.
This is ideal for complete beginners in fabric dyeing. Those who already have a creative practice, especially one focused around working with textiles, may benefit from learning about the natural dyeing process.
This event is part of the WOVEN community programme. If you have any questions please contact West Yorkshire Print Workshop directly.
