HUG Outdoor Weaving Workshops – Heckmondwike

June 12 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Join artists Adrian & Annabel in creating your own woven textile artworks across Algernon Firth Park in Heckmondwike!

We’re inviting you to create your own textile artworks on fences across the park as part of HUG. Adrian & Annabel will demonstrate techniques to weave your own words of encouragement and optimism.

People of all ages are welcome – children must be supervised by an adult. Tickets are free BOOK HERE. Walk-ups are welcome, subject to availability.

Please note this will be an outdoor activity so please come prepared for the weather. The latest government guidelines for COVID-19 have been followed in the planning. The activity will be filmed and photographed for promotional purposes – if you don’t wish not be included please notify the artists on arrival.

Would you like to suggest some words for them to use? What have you missed the most? Who were you longing to hug? How did it feel to finally give them a squeeze?

About HUG

Artists Adrian & Annabel will be embracing Kirklees in a visual hug, weaving the words of local residents into fences in Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike and Dewsbury.

Using words from local residents, and fabric off-cuts donated by local businesses Fabworks and Skopos, fencing in Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike and Dewsbury town centres will become a visual embrace displaying the thoughts of local people. The words and patterns created by weaving fabric into the fences will be focussed on our collective longing for the togetherness we have sorely missed through the covid pandemic.
