HUG Installation & Demonstrations – Dewsbury

June 18 - June 27

Artists Adrian & Annabel will be embracing Kirklees in a visual hug, weaving the words of local residents into fences across the district.

Using words from local residents, and fabric off-cuts donated by local businesses Fabworks and Skopos, town centre fencing will become a visual embrace displaying the thoughts of local people.

Would you like to suggest some words for them to use? What have you missed the most? Who were you longing to hug? How did it feel to finally give them a squeeze?

The words and patterns created by weaving fabric into the fences will be focussed on our collective longing for the togetherness we have sorely missed through the covid pandemic.

The artists will be weaving their creations across Crow Nest Park in Dewsbury on Friday 18th to Sunday 20th June. Find them in the park for a (socially distant!) demonstration, or to pick up a pack to create your own artworks.

The installation will be in situ until the end of the festival on Sunday 27th June.
