Charity Shop Challenge
June 5 - June 27
An exhibition of work in the upstairs windows at Holmfirth Indoor Market, created by Holmfirth High School’s Year 10 textile group as part of a three month sustainable fashion project: Charity Shop Challenge.
By taking part in Charity Shop Challenge, the students have learned about the damaging impacts on people and the planet, caused by the global supply chain of clothing. They have also developed practical and creative hand skills for garment repair and upcycling. All of the materials used in this project are second hand and have been provided local independent charity shop Crossroads in Meltham.
The students have used a variety of new skills to creatively transform a collection of unwanted clothing into fabulous upcycled outfits. Other work from the project will be exhibited including an embroidered banner and a Fashion Revolution Zine.
