Even when there’s no big festival happening, there’s often lots of textile events happening across Kirklees.
Bower Roebuck produce woven worsted fabrics from wool and natural blend fibres. The fabrics are sold to the world’s luxury fashion brands.
Join us for a one hour tour of the warping and weaving departments where you will see how yarn is prepared for weaving and then woven into a finished fabric. The tour will be run by employees working in the mill and there will be opportunities to ask questions about the processes seen.
This will be followed by a tour of the mending department, where you will get an opportunity to have a go at mending the cloth yourself. This is still done the traditional way, by hand with a needle and yarn. Good eyesight and patience is needed to be a good mender.
This event is part of the WOVEN community programme. If you have any questions please contact Bower Roebuck directly.
