The African Fabric Shop Open Day
June 10 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
One event on June 12, 2019 at 12:00 pm
The African Fabric Shop is a specialist fair trade dealer in African textiles, beads and baskets. Magie Relph and Bob Irwin have spent over 30 years researching, documenting, collecting and buying textiles from makers, markets and villages all over Africa. Visit us during WOVEN and discover the vivid colours and bold patterns of our unique fabrics: from hand-dyed indigos and batiks to mud cloth and woven Kente cloth. Plus recycled beads and fair trade Bolga baskets.
Love colour? Love texture? Love textiles? Exclusively during WOVEN, Magie and our upcycling guru Jenny Hall will be sharing ideas on simple makes to dress up your home.
As part of the WOVEN in Kirklees Textile Trail, The African Shop will be open to visitors from 12 – 4 on Monday 10 and Wednesday 12 June.
The African Fabric Shop can be visited by appointment only the rest of the year. To avoid a wasted trip, please contact us in advance to make sure that we are not away in Africa or ‘on safari’ to a textile event somewhere in the UK or Europe.
