The African Fabric Shop Open Day
June 8 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
The African Fabric Shop is a specialist fair trade dealer in African textiles, beads and baskets. Magie Relph and Bob Irwin have spent over 30 years researching, documenting, collecting and buying textiles from makers, markets and villages all over Africa. Visit us during WOVEN and discover the vivid colours and bold patterns of our unique fabrics: from hand-dyed indigos and batiks to mud cloth and woven Kente cloth. Plus recycled beads and fair trade Bolga baskets.
TEXTILE TRAIL Open Day
Focus on Furnishing
As part of the WOVEN in Kirklees Textile Trail, we’ll be open from 10 – 4 on Saturday 8 June.
Love colour? Love texture? Love textiles? Exclusively during WOVEN, Magie and our upcycling guru Jenny Hall will be sharing ideas on simple makes to dress up your home. Get creative with lots of tips and tricks for using African textiles to jazz up your living space.
Also, as part of the WOVEN in Kirklees Textile Trail, The African Shop will be open to visitors from 12 – 4 on the Monday 10 and Wednesday 12 June.
The African Fabric Shop can be visited by appointment only the rest of the year. To avoid a wasted trip, please contact us in advance to make sure that we are not away in Africa or ‘on safari’ to a textile event somewhere in the UK or Europe.
